This week saw our final concert of the year take place. ‘Summer Serenade’ was a great opportunity for some of our younger students, mainly Years 7-10 to perform and show off their talents. As always there was great support from parents who were treated to yet another fantastic evening.
Our annual Sports Awards was a fantastic evening with over 100 students being recognised for achievements in PE and school sport. As well as awards, there were energetic performances from the Beckfoot Blizzards cheer squad, a Ju Jitsu display, and a breath-taking gymnastic performance choreographed by Year 11 students Chelsie Couldwell and Kirsty Goodbold.

On 15 June, 270 Year 7 students visited the Bolton Abbey Estate and Parish Church for Humanities ACE Day. Students were given the opportunity to study various historical, geographical and religious aspects of this medieval site.
Two Year 8 and two Year 10 Food Technology students entered the competition this year hosted by Bingley Grammar School. The competition involved the preparation of a three course meal to a £14 budget. We were very successful gaining 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.
Today we will be showing the England match after school in the Drama studio, so that students can stay in school and watch this with their friends, rather than missing some of it by arriving home after kick-off time. Students may bring shirts to wear to watch the match.
On Wednesday 9 June a group of Year 8 students attended the ‘Shadowing Carnegie’ event at Nab Wood School.
They spent the day with David Cryer, a short story writer and poet, discussing the eight shortlisted books for this year’s Carnegie Book Awards.
Follow the World Cup action through a live fiction story full of adventure and mystery. In the LRC every day during the World Cup you will have a chance to listen to instalments of a brand new story that reflects events that happened on the pitch the previous day.

Farewell to our leaving 6th Form studentsWe said farewell to our leaving 6th Form students at an excellent 6th Form Prom at the Midland Hotel on Thursday. Superbly organised by 6th Form Council, we all had a great time. The food was good, presentations were suitably embarrassing for those that won and there were a lot of smiles.
